Andhra Pradesh has been honored with the Green Energy Champion award for 2023-24, an accolade presented by the Indian Wind Power Association at a recent ceremony in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. M Kamalakar Babu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AP Solar Power Corporation Limited, accepted the award on behalf of the State from Lalith Bohra, Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The competition for the prestigious award was fierce, with Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka also vying for the top honor. Andhra Pradesh stood out due to its substantial advancements in the renewable energy sector. In his acceptance speech, Kamalakar Babu credited Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the state’s success, highlighting Naidu’s commitment to renewable energy during his earlier tenure from 2014-2019. Babu emphasized that Naidu’s visionary leadership was instrumental in positioning Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of green energy initiatives, culminating in this significant recognition.
Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar and Special Chief Secretary Vijayanand also offered their congratulations to Babu and the AP Solar Power Corporation Limited, praising their pivotal role in the state’s progress towards sustainable energy development.
