Caterpillar has recently undergone notable changes in its executive lineup, leading to an exciting update for the upcoming Power Progress Summit. Rob L. Hoenes, Caterpillar’s newly appointed senior vice president for the Electrification and Energy Solutions Division (E+ES), will now deliver the keynote address on the second day of the summit. Hoenes will focus on strategies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to collaborate with customers in transitioning to electrified worksites.

Hoenes, who stepped into his new role in September 2024, replaces Rod Shurman, the original keynote speaker who has transitioned to a different division within the company. Hoenes brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Since joining Caterpillar in 1990, he has held various roles across engineering, sales, marketing, and product management on a global scale, including stints in North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. His leadership has spanned product management for medium wheel loaders and large dozers, and he was instrumental in overseeing medium tractor products.

In May 2019, Hoenes was appointed vice president of the Material Handling & Underground Division, based in East Peoria, Ill. He was later promoted to senior vice president of the Resource Industries Operations & Products division, managing over 12 product lines, eight global manufacturing facilities, and around 8,000 employees. In his current role as senior vice president for E+ES, Hoenes will lead Caterpillar’s initiatives in delivering cutting-edge electrified powertrain solutions and zero exhaust emission technologies.

Hoenes’s keynote speech is set to be a pivotal moment at the sixth annual Power Progress Summit, scheduled for October 1-2, 2024, at the Voco Chicago Downtown Hotel in Chicago, Ill. The summit will feature a comprehensive program focused on the transformative impact of emissions regulations and advancements in hybrid and electrification technologies. This year’s theme, “Developments in Digitalization & Decarbonization,” will explore automation, connectivity, artificial intelligence, and other innovations driving more efficient and lower/zero-carbon solutions.

The summit will also feature insights from the Off-Highway Conference, presented by Off-Highway Research. This segment will offer critical industry reports and analysis on the global off-highway equipment market and the role of alternative energy solutions in shaping future market trends.
