Heikki Malinen Appointed as Neste’s New CEO Amidst Strategic Leadership Change
Neste, a prominent Finnish company known for its innovation in renewable fuels, has announced the appointment of Heikki Malinen as its new President and CEO, effective October. Malinen, who recently stepped down from the company’s board, will be taking over from Matti Lehmus. Lehmus will remain with Neste in an advisory capacity until mid-November to ensure a seamless transition.
Chair of the Board Matti Kähkönen praised Malinen’s extensive experience and leadership skills, saying, “Heikki Malinen brings a robust track record of steering international enterprises and enhancing stakeholder value, even during market fluctuations. His expertise in forming high-performing teams and driving significant business improvements positions him as the ideal leader for Neste at this pivotal moment.”
Kähkönen also acknowledged Lehmus’s contributions, noting, “We deeply appreciate Matti Lehmus’s commitment and long service to Neste. His leadership has been crucial in advancing our renewable product initiatives. We extend our best wishes to Matti as he embarks on his future endeavors.”
Neste, a global leader in transforming waste products into renewable fuels, continues to make strides as the world’s largest producer of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel. The company has set an ambitious target to cut the carbon emission intensity of its products by 50% by 2040, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation.
