Daimler Truck Holding has announced the appointment of Karin Rådström as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2024. Rådström, who will serve under a contract extending to January 31, 2029, succeeds Martin Daum, who is stepping down from the role.
Daum, who has led Daimler Truck through significant transitions, will continue as a full member of the Board of Management until the end of 2024 to ensure a smooth transition.
Rådström has been a prominent figure at Daimler Truck since joining the Board of Management in 2021, where she has been instrumental in advancing the profitability of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and steering the company towards enhanced sustainability. Prior to her tenure at Daimler Truck, she held key positions at Scania, including Executive Board member overseeing Sales & Marketing and Senior Vice President of Buses & Coaches.
Joe Kaeser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, expressed enthusiasm about Rådström’s appointment, highlighting her extensive industry knowledge and leadership capabilities. “Karin Rådström’s exceptional ability to drive brand transformation in a challenging environment makes her an ideal choice for CEO. We are eager to see her lead Daimler Truck into its next chapter,” Kaeser said. He also acknowledged Daum’s significant contributions, stating, “Martin Daum has successfully transitioned Daimler Truck from a conglomerate division into a thriving DAX-listed entity. His dedication has been invaluable.”
In response to her new role, Rådström shared her excitement and vision on LinkedIn: “Daimler Truck boasts a rich history in commercial vehicles, and I am thrilled to lead it through this pivotal era of decarbonizing transportation. The challenge is immense, but it drives me to make a meaningful impact. Together, we have the capability to elevate our company and serve our customers more effectively than ever.”
Rådström’s appointment marks a new era for Daimler Truck as it continues to navigate the evolving landscape of the commercial vehicle industry.
