In a strategic move poised to reshape the offshore wind industry, Rovco and Vaarst have merged to establish a new entity, Beam.global. Headquartered in the UK, Beam.global aims to revolutionize offshore wind technology by enhancing automation and driving down costs across survey and subsea operations throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
Both Rovco and Vaarst have made significant strides in integrating artificial intelligence and autonomous systems within the offshore wind sector. The newly formed Beam.global will continue to focus on delivering cutting-edge technologies for the survey and subsea industries, leveraging their expertise to drive efficiency and innovation.
Founded by Brian Allen in 2016, Rovco expanded its technological reach with the launch of Vaarst in 2021. The decision to merge these companies under the Beam.global brand follows a period of substantial growth and aligns with future technological goals. Allen will remain as CEO of Beam.global, overseeing a workforce that now exceeds 200 employees.
Looking ahead, Beam.global plans to expand its operations further. Over the next year, the company will hire more than 150 new employees across its UK offices in Bristol, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh, filling various high-tech roles. Additionally, Beam.global will bolster its international presence by adding 50 positions in global markets, including 25 in the US and 10 in Asia.
Brian Allen, CEO of Beam.global, emphasized the significance of the merger, stating, “It’s never been more important to find ways to cut costs and project timelines. This merger under a united brand makes Beam.global the only company in the world with a unique combination of subsea AI, computer vision, sonar, and autonomous advanced robotics. Our mission is to make offshore wind cost-competitive with oil and gas, a crucial step toward reducing global dependence on fossil fuels.”
