New Mid-Size Electric Machines Debut at Volvo Days North America
Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has introduced two groundbreaking electric machines to the North American market during the Volvo Days North America event, held on September 17-18 in Pennsylvania. The newly unveiled L120 wheel loader and EC230 excavator represent a significant leap in battery-electric construction technology, catering to the need for larger, more powerful alternatives in the industry.
Volvo CE’s latest offerings come as a response to the industry’s increasing demand for robust electric equipment. “While most existing electric construction machinery is compact, our new mid-size electric wheel loader and excavator are engineered to provide larger, high-performance solutions with a reduced environmental footprint,” the company stated.
Both the L120 wheel loader and EC230 excavator feature an impressive operating weight exceeding 20 tons. They are designed to offer a battery runtime of six to eight hours, though this can vary based on specific operational demands.
Dr. Ray Gallant, Vice President of Sustainability and Productivity Services at Volvo CE, emphasized the significance of these new models. “These larger battery-electric units represent a major step forward in achieving zero-emission solutions. They are set to support businesses and government fleets in reaching their sustainability and productivity targets.”
Reservations for both models are now open, with deliveries anticipated to commence in 2025.
