Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. has teamed up with Dimaag-AI Inc. to develop an innovative electrified compact hydraulic excavator. This collaboration will integrate Dimaag’s Electric No Compromise Off-Road Ecosystem (ENCORE) into Hitachi’s 1.7-ton class excavators, which are widely utilized in urban construction and indoor demolition projects.
Under this partnership, Hitachi will supply the technical specifications for the base machine, while Dimaag will provide its advanced electric technology, including high-power, swappable battery modules, thermal management systems, and electric vehicle motors. Dimaag, a U.S.-based company specializing in electric solutions for vehicles, energy storage systems, and DC fast chargers, first showcased the ENCORE technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas.
The completion of the electrified excavator is projected for December 2024, with a formal unveiling scheduled for the Bauma 2025 Trade Fair in Munich, Germany, in April 2025. Hitachi aims to introduce the product to the European market by 2027.
Ian Wright, co-founder of Tesla and Vice President of Engineering at Dimaag, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Our ENCORE technology ensures no compromise on safety, performance, or affordability. Partnering with Hitachi marks a critical step toward electrifying agricultural and construction machinery.”
