Power has been restored at Tweed New Haven Airport after a utility pole fire caused an outage on Monday morning.
According to United Illuminating, the power loss affected the airport’s east side. However, backup generators kept the airport running until power was fully restored.
The outage occurred around 9:30 a.m., as confirmed by Andrew King, a spokesperson for Avports, the airport’s operating company. The airport assured the public through a Facebook post that it was “open and operating under normal protocols.” All flights continued as scheduled, and services such as check-in, security, and boarding were not impacted.
Power was fully restored by approximately 12:30 p.m., King reported.
United Illuminating, the power company serving New Haven, explained that the outage was caused by a fire on a utility pole. A tree had brushed against an energized wire, which led to the fire.
