A Russian airstrike on Ternopil’s energy infrastructure has caused significant damage, leading to ongoing efforts to restore electricity, water, and heating services in the city. The attack, carried out using kamikaze drones, targeted power lines supplying the region, according to Serhii Nadal, head of the Ternopil Regional Defense Council.
Electricity, Heating, and Water Supply Updates
Energy workers are working to restore the electricity supply to Ternopil, with progress being made. Nadal expressed hope that the restoration would be completed soon.
Elevators in multi-apartment buildings will remain out of service until power is fully restored. Nadal urged residents not to use elevators where power is available, as interruptions may occur.
The Ternopilvodokanal municipal company is working to bring the centralized water supply back online. While progress is being made, there may be low water pressure, and generators are being used to support utilities. Water should be restored to all areas of the city by 7:00 a.m. Kyiv time.
Gas supply remains unaffected and continues as normal.
Heating is operational at most boilers, and generators will be used if necessary to ensure continued service. Some individual heating points may be shut down, with heat being supplied directly to buildings.
Impact on Education and Transport
Schools and kindergartens in Ternopil will remain open, with those without centralized power relying on generators.
Trolleybuses in the city will be temporarily out of service, with buses replacing them on the affected routes. Large buses will replace trolleybus number 11, and additional buses will be deployed on other routes.
Details of the Attack
The overnight airstrike caused explosions in Ternopil, leaving parts of the city without power and disrupting the water supply. The air raid alert in the region lasted for about five hours.
