A horrific tragedy struck a popular ski resort in Georgia on Tuesday, as 12 people were found dead at the Gudauri restaurant in the Caucasus Mountains. The victims included 11 employees of the restaurant and one Georgian national.

The bodies were discovered on the second floor of the restaurant, and authorities have confirmed that the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. The deadly fumes are believed to have come from a power generator that was improperly used inside the building, rather than outside as required for safety.
