Pess Energy, a French portable power solutions developer, has introduced FlyWatt, a 10 kWh compact battery-powered generator tailored for the needs of film and TV production crews. This new addition to Pess Energy’s line of off-grid battery-based generators is designed to meet the power demands of various industries, including cinematography, construction, events, and emergency services.
Like other products in Pess Energy’s catalog, FlyWatt is powered by lithium-ion battery technology, offering a more sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional fossil-fuel-powered generators. It can be recharged using the Ekla silicon solar panel kit (1,500 W), which comes with its own travel case, ensuring portability and ease of transport for on-the-go production teams.
Tailored for Film and TV Productions
A spokesperson for Pess Energy highlighted the environmental benefits of FlyWatt, especially for the film and TV industry, where eco-conscious practices are becoming increasingly important. “Our main market is cinema production, where there are strict environmental standards. This makes FlyWatt an ideal solution for crews who need environmentally friendly tools,” they told pv magazine. “Compared to gas-powered units, our battery-powered generators are not only silent but also odor-free, providing significant comfort for workers in industries like cinema and construction.”
Compact and Powerful
Weighing in at just 69 cm x 56 cm x 85.5 cm, FlyWatt is small enough to allow for up to six units to be stacked in a cargo van, offering a combined power capacity of 66 kW. Each unit provides users with six powerbank sockets at 16A and 32A. A domestic socket can fully recharge the unit in 3 hours.
The included Ekla solar panel kit offers up to 8,800 Wh of daily charging capacity, depending on weather conditions. The kit contains four monocrystalline solar panels with an 18% power conversion efficiency and a collapsible kickstand for easy adjustment to optimal positions throughout the day. The solar panels can also charge other Pess Energy products, such as the Bobine 5 kWh battery (charged in 6 hours) and the larger 10 kWh Wattman (which requires two Ekla kits for a 6-hour recharge).
Sustainable Power for the Future
Founded in 2021 and based in Marseille, Pess Energy is supported by French venture capital investors, including Rise Partners, Région Sud Investissement, and Crédit Agricole Alpes Provence. The company continues to innovate in the realm of eco-friendly power solutions, helping industries transition to greener practices without sacrificing performance.
