AdventEnergy Inc., the retail electricity arm of Aboitiz Power Corp., is set to invest up to P1.8 billion next year to expand its energy portfolio. The company aims to add 50 to 60 megawatts (MW) of capacity in 2025, focusing on solar and hybrid solar-battery energy storage projects.
James Yu, AboitizPower’s first vice president and head of retail, shared in a recent interview that these projects are the result of deals AdventEnergy signed in 2024. The company is expecting to complete these projects within 6 to 12 months.
“We already have around 50-60 MW in the pipeline that we want to build by next year,” Yu said.
AdventEnergy offers customized energy solutions to meet the diverse needs of its clients, including ground-mounted and rooftop solar systems for residential, commercial, and industrial use. Many of these projects are designed to provide electricity for 20 to 25 years.
“We expect many of these projects to deliver power for the next 20 to 25 years,” Yu explained.
In the short term, AdventEnergy plans to deploy up to 60 MW of distributed energy annually, with the potential for further growth. “If more customers come on board, we won’t limit ourselves. We aim to expand our business and target at least 50 to 60 MW per year,” Yu added.
The company is optimistic about the future, particularly with the growing willingness of banks to finance renewable energy projects. AdventEnergy is encouraging customers to take advantage of this opportunity to transition from traditional power sources to cleaner, renewable energy.
Gina Lyn David-Camacho, AboitizPower’s vice president for retail energy sales and solutions, highlighted the role of retail electricity suppliers like AdventEnergy in helping businesses improve energy efficiency. “Business continuity and energy efficiency are vital for Philippine industries,” she said.
AdventEnergy’s hybrid energy solutions not only help businesses comply with energy regulations but also ensure the stability of critical operations, even during power interruptions. “We help businesses reassess their energy needs to optimize operations and plan effectively for the future,” David-Camacho added.
So far, AdventEnergy has provided reliable energy solutions to over 500 facilities across the Philippines. Its largest client is the SM Group, which has contracted around 150 MW of capacity for its malls and real estate developments.
