PURE EV, a leading Indian manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, has made significant strides in reducing its environmental impact by incorporating renewable energy at its Telangana facility. The company has installed a 125 KW solar power system and a 500 KWh energy storage system (ESS), leading to a 60% reduction in electricity costs and a 65% drop in diesel generator (DG) fuel expenses compared to the previous year.
The solar power system has significantly decreased the company’s dependence on grid electricity, while the ESS, made entirely from refurbished batteries gathered through PURE EV’s battery exchange program, has added further savings. Customers can exchange older batteries for high-performance, fifth-generation units, and the refurbished batteries are repurposed for energy storage, promoting a circular economy in EV battery usage.
By integrating solar power, grid electricity, and diesel generators with the ESS, PURE EV has also reduced peak load charges by 50%, increasing overall operational efficiency. The company views this initiative as a critical step toward its long-term sustainability and cost optimization goals.
Dr. Nishanth Dongari, Founder and Managing Director of PURE EV, emphasized the dual benefits of this approach. “Combining solar power with advanced energy storage not only supports environmental sustainability but also provides economic gains by reducing reliance on non-renewable resources,” he said.
PURE EV plans to expand its renewable energy initiatives by FY 2026. The company intends to install another 125 KW solar system and increase the ESS capacity by an additional 500 KWh, aligning with its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions. Headquartered in Hyderabad, PURE EV specializes in electric scooters and motorcycles, focusing on affordable, efficient urban transportation. The company also operates a dedicated battery manufacturing facility to ensure the quality and reliability of its lithium-ion energy storage solutions.
In addition to vehicle manufacturing, PURE EV is committed to battery recycling and repurposing as part of its sustainability efforts. By investing in renewable energy and promoting clean mobility, the company is contributing to India’s transition to a low-carbon economy and supporting the adoption of eco-friendly transportation solutions.
