Kemijoki Oy has chosen Caverion as its partner to operate and maintain the Anjalankoski and Inkeroinen hydroelectric power plants located on the Kymijoki River in Southern Finland. The agreement, set to begin in May 2025, strengthens a long-standing partnership between the two companies, which already includes collaboration in the Kemijoki and Lieksanjoki regions.
Tuomas Timonen, CEO of Kemijoki Oy, emphasized the importance of the partnership. “Caverion will ensure the operational reliability of our hydroelectric plants in the Kymijoki area,” he said. “When selecting a partner, we prioritize expertise in hydropower, a strong local presence, and advanced digital analytics services. To maintain high availability and support the long-term development of our power plants, our partner must deeply understand the unique aspects of hydropower and be dedicated to training new professionals.”
As part of the agreement, Caverion will implement its AI-powered analytics tool, Caverion Intelligence, to identify potential issues and prevent disruptions before they occur.
Laura Karotie, Head of Partnerships and Advisory Services at Caverion Finland, highlighted the significance of the collaboration. “This partnership combines our advisory services with traditional hydropower maintenance, creating a comprehensive approach to plant management,” she said.
Hydropower is Finland’s largest source of renewable electricity. Kemijoki Oy, the country’s leading producer of hydropower and regulating power, operates as an expert organization that relies on partnerships to manage its facilities, support regional employment, and strengthen energy security.
This new contract underscores Kemijoki Oy’s commitment to sustainable energy production and its focus on leveraging advanced technology to optimize operations.
