The CASE 580EV, the construction industry’s first fully electric backhoe loader, has been honored with a GOOD DESIGN Award in the Transportation category. This recognition highlights its groundbreaking design and innovative approach to electric construction machinery.
Developed by Case Construction Equipment, the 580EV combines the power of traditional diesel engines with the environmental and operational benefits of electric vehicle (EV) technology. Its zero-emission operation and reduced noise levels make it an ideal choice for urban construction, utility work, and municipal projects. Contractors can now boost productivity while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
The GOOD DESIGN Awards, organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press, Inc., are among the oldest and most respected design accolades worldwide. Each year, the program celebrates the most innovative industrial, product, and graphic designs across the globe.
The CASE 580EV stood out for its exceptional industrial design, seamlessly blending form and function to deliver an unparalleled user experience. Its sleek, clean body lines are accentuated by striking “Electric Blue” decals, emphasizing the advanced EV technology it houses.
Inside the cab, the 580EV prioritizes operator comfort and efficiency. It features an 8-inch color touchscreen, intuitive controls, and an ergonomic membrane keypad designed to resist dust and debris. Safety is also a key focus, with customizable four-corner strobe lights that meet regulatory requirements. These lights offer adjustable colors, strobe modes, and an “always on” feature for low-light conditions where strobes are unnecessary.
“From the start, we aimed to create a high-performance electric machine that operators would love to use,” said Terry Dolan, Vice President of North America for Case Construction Equipment. “Winning the GOOD DESIGN Award underscores our commitment to innovation and delivering tools that help contractors excel on the job site.”
The CASE 580EV is a testament to the future of construction equipment, merging sustainability, performance, and user-centric design to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
