DMG Mori to Unveil Five New Machines at Upcoming In-House Exhibition

by sthv

DMG Mori, a leading machine tool manufacturer, is set to launch five innovative production platforms at its in-house exhibition from February 10 to 21, 2025. The event, held at the company’s largest European production site, marks the 30th anniversary of its opening to customers, suppliers, and trade visitors. The new machines are part of DMG Mori’s Machining Transformation (MX) strategy, which aims to revolutionize manufacturing through cutting-edge technology.

1. DMU 60 eVo 2nd Generation: Precision and Flexibility

The DMU 60 eVo, a five-axis machining center, will make its global debut at the exhibition. Designed for precision, dynamics, and flexibility, it integrates multiple manufacturing processes, including mill-turn machining, gear hobbing using gearSKIVING technology, and grinding. The machine features intelligent automation solutions for 24/7 operation and supports modern control systems like Sinumerik One and Heidenhain TNC 7, paired with DMG Mori’s user-friendly CELOS X interface.

2. Ultrasonic 20 Linear 3rd Generation: Advanced Material Processing

The Ultrasonic 20 Linear, a five-axis machine, introduces ultrasonic-supported milling and optional grinding. It is ideal for processing materials like glass, ceramics, and composites, particularly for the semiconductor industry. With insights from 600 predecessor models, DMG Mori has enhanced its positioning accuracy to 2µm in linear axes and 2 seconds of arc in the rotary axis. The machine’s ultrasonic technology reduces process forces by 50%, enabling faster feed rates, better surface finishes, and longer tool life.

3. DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U: Robust Five-Sided Machining

Based on the proven design of DMV vertical milling machines, DMG Mori has developed the DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U for five-sided machining of complex workpieces. The DMX 60 U handles weights up to 300kg, while the DMX 80 U accommodates up to 350kg. Both models feature a rigid, monolithic cast bed with wide roller guideways, offering 45% greater rigidity than previous versions. They also include linear scales, direct drives, and temperature compensation for high precision and thermal stability.

4. CTX 750|1250: Compact and Productive Turning

The sixth-generation CTX 750|1250 universal turning machine will also debut at the exhibition. Despite its compact footprint of 11.7m², it can handle workpieces up to 700mm in diameter and 1,290mm in length. Equipped with twin-opposed spindles, an optional Y-axis, and driven tools, it enables six-sided machining of complex geometries in a single setup. The machine boasts linear guideways, integrated cooling, and positioning accuracies of 6µm and 12 seconds of arc.
