Novus Hi-Tech has partnered with Eicher Trucks and Buses to introduce state-of-the-art safety systems for mining vehicles. The announcement was made at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The new systems meet the standards set by the Directorate General of Mine Safety (DGMS) and include features like driver monitoring, proximity warnings, and automatic headlight control.
The Driver Monitoring System uses artificial intelligence (AI) to check if the driver is alert and identify potential risks. The Proximity Warning System, which relies on radar technology, provides alerts to prevent collisions. Additionally, the Auto Dipper System automatically adjusts headlight brightness to improve visibility in dark conditions.
Deep Kapuria, Chairman of Novus Hi-Tech, emphasized the company’s focus on developing innovative technology within India. Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), stated that the partnership aims to bring modern advancements to India’s commercial vehicle sector.
Novus Hi-Tech has already installed 70,000 units of its safety systems across 20 vehicle models. The company holds more than 100 patents and has analyzed 7 billion kilometers of driving data to refine its technology. These efforts have reportedly helped prevent 200,000 accidents.
The collaboration comes at a time when India’s mining industry is under pressure to improve safety standards. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has been implementing stricter regulations, highlighting the need for advanced safety solutions in mining vehicles. This partnership is expected to play a key role in addressing these challenges.
