Hindustan Zinc Limited (HINDZINC), India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, unveiled its latest zinc die-casting alloys, HZDA 3 and HZDA 5, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The company showcased a wide range of zinc, lead, silver, and other value-added products specifically designed for the automotive industry. These solutions aim to address the growing demand for lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and high-performance materials in vehicle manufacturing.
Zinc plays a critical role in the automotive sector, particularly in galvanized steel, which offers superior corrosion resistance. This allows for lighter and more durable vehicle bodies, reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Hindustan Zinc’s die-casting alloys, known as ZAMAK, are optimized for hot chamber die casting processes. With these alloys now being produced domestically, the company is helping reduce India’s reliance on imports. The HZDA range ensures high castability, dimensional stability, and excellent surface finishes, enabling local manufacturers to produce strong and reliable automotive components.
A key highlight of Hindustan Zinc’s exhibit was its low-carbon “green” zinc, branded EcoZen. This product has a carbon footprint 75% lower than conventionally produced zinc. EcoZen is ideal for galvanizing steel while significantly cutting carbon emissions, making it a sustainable choice for eco-conscious manufacturers. The company also showcased its lead and silver products, which are essential for batteries, electronics, and other automotive applications. These offerings align with the industry’s growing focus on electrification and environmentally friendly solutions.
As Indian consumers increasingly prioritize rust-resistant vehicles with longer warranties, the demand for galvanized steel is on the rise. Zinc-coated steel provides extended protection against corrosion without significantly increasing production costs. This enhances both vehicle safety and customer satisfaction. Hindustan Zinc’s high-quality zinc products are well-suited to meet this demand, particularly as Indian manufacturers strive to meet global quality standards.
The Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 served as a platform for Hindustan Zinc to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector. With its advanced metal solutions, the company is poised to support the industry’s transition towards lighter, more durable, and eco-friendly vehicles.
