Lhyfe, a leading green hydrogen producer, has teamed up with Atmen, an automation software provider, to launch digital product passports for its hydrogen. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and traceability in the production process, particularly as Lhyfe works toward obtaining its RFNBO (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin) certification.
The digital passports will provide a detailed breakdown of the carbon footprint of Lhyfe’s green hydrogen.

Energy sourcing: Details on where, when, and how the electricity used in hydrogen production was generated.
Embedded emissions: A step-by-step analysis of the carbon intensity calculations.
Supply chain contribution: The impact of each stage of processing and logistics on the hydrogen’s overall carbon footprint.
The partnership will initially focus on Lhyfe’s production unit in Bouin, France, with plans to expand to other Lhyfe sites. Once RFNBO certification is achieved, the digital passports will feature an “RFNBO-compliant” label, further validating the sustainability of the hydrogen produced.
Lhyfe believes this level of traceability will help its clients meet their decarbonization and emission reduction goals with unmatched precision. The RFNBO certification confirms that hydrogen is produced sustainably through water electrolysis using 100% renewable electricity. It includes a comprehensive assessment of the production process’s carbon footprint, ensuring compliance with the European Union’s strict environmental criteria. This certification not only strengthens trust among partners, clients, and investors but also sets a benchmark for sustainable hydrogen production.
