During a recent visit to France, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, held discussions with senior representatives from prominent international generator companies, including Onspec Engineering and Contracting’s General Manager, as well as the Regional Director of Rehlko (formerly Kohler) for Egypt and the Middle East.
The talks primarily centered on strengthening partnerships aimed at transferring expertise in electricity generator manufacturing to Egypt. This collaboration is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of both current and future infrastructure projects.
El-Sherbiny underscored the strategic potential of leveraging Rehlko’s extensive experience in producing high-quality electricity generators, particularly for water and wastewater treatment plant projects. Rehlko’s global reputation as a leading supplier of generators will be crucial in advancing the country’s infrastructure.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to localizing industries, reducing reliance on imports, and optimizing the development of key infrastructure projects. He emphasized that such collaborations could play a significant role in strengthening Egypt’s domestic manufacturing capabilities, thereby improving the efficiency of government initiatives, including housing and urban development projects.
A key focus of the discussions was the range of products offered by Rehlko, which includes electricity generation units ranging from 1 kVA to 4,500 kVA. Special attention was given to integrating emergency backup generators into various projects, particularly those managed by the Ministry of Housing and the New Urban Communities Authority, as well as those under the presidential Decent Life initiative.
Training local technicians in the operation and maintenance of these units was highlighted as a critical element of the partnership. El-Sherbiny stressed the importance of fostering local expertise to ensure the long-term sustainability and reliability of these systems, which would contribute to Egypt’s energy security and infrastructure resilience.
Rehlko, a global leader in electricity generation, operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Brest, France, and is known for its commitment to delivering reliable energy solutions worldwide.
