Mayr Power Transmission has inaugurated a new production facility in Halol, Gujarat, a significant move in the company’s growth. This new plant will allow Mayr to locally manufacture safety brakes, clutches, and other components, improving product access for customers in India.
The new plant strengthens a partnership with a local dealer that has lasted since the 1990s. The company, which has been in business for 125 years, already has production plants in Germany, Poland, and China. The Halol plant, opened in late 2024, is the company’s fourth global production site.
“We’ve had a successful sales partnership in India for over three decades, and opening this plant is the next logical step,” said Thomas Gebler, Director of Sales for Mayr India.
This move reflects Mayr’s commitment to offering more competitive prices and improved service in India’s rapidly expanding market. CEO Ferdinand Mayr noted the decision to produce locally will help meet growing demand in sectors like robotics and medical technology. He also emphasized that the global economy is changing, and managing markets is increasingly complex. “India is now a key player in the high-tech segment,” he added.
The company is known for its high standards of quality, which it maintains across all its global operations. Christian Tanner, Director of Operations for Mayr India, explained that the company uses the same testing equipment at all its sites, ensuring both quality and cost efficiency. Gebler remarked, “The collaboration between our Bavarian roots and our Indian team’s efforts gives us a strong advantage, allowing us to lead in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.”
