Waaree Group, India’s top solar PV module manufacturer, has begun constructing a new alkaline electrolyser manufacturing plant in Valsad, Gujarat. The facility, set to start operations with an initial capacity of 300 MW, aims to support industries like steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation in adopting cleaner, decarbonized operations.
The plant will feature advanced equipment and manufacturing processes to produce high-efficiency, durable, and reliable electrolysers. These electrolysers are designed for large-scale green hydrogen production, with a focus on low power consumption, flexible operations, and minimal maintenance. Automated assembly lines for electrolyser stacks will ensure precision and scalability, according to Waaree.
The project aligns with the Indian government’s push for green energy. Waaree recently secured a production-linked incentive (PLI) under the SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) scheme. The PLI supports the company’s goal of achieving 300 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity and producing 90,000 metric tons of green hydrogen annually.
