Luminous Power Technologies, a leader in energy solutions, has unveiled its new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The facility, located in the SIDCUL Industrial Estate, covers 8 acres and is designed to meet the growing demand for power storage solutions in India and abroad. It is a major step forward for the company, setting new standards in the industry with its green initiatives and cutting-edge technology.
One of the plant’s key features is its use of 3,036 solar panels that generate 1MW of solar power, making it the second-largest industrial rooftop solar installation in Uttarakhand. The facility also introduces the industry’s first green positive plate manufacturing process, which uses 100% grey oxide through a wet paste filling method for industrial batteries. This marks a significant shift toward more sustainable and energy-efficient production practices.
The plant is equipped with advanced technology, including an acid circulation system and a high-speed automatic battery assembly line that operates twice as fast as traditional lines. Water-efficient processes are also in place, allowing for faster battery charging. The smart factory interface enables real-time monitoring of stock, production, and operational data through a digital dashboard, enhancing efficiency.
Additionally, the plant houses a DOJO, a learning center dedicated to upskilling employees. This facility not only focuses on manufacturing but also aims to foster talent development and research in energy solutions.
With a production capacity of 1.5 to 2GWh of power backup solutions annually, the plant uses LEAN manufacturing principles and automation to ensure high-quality products and optimized production cycles. The facility also includes a dedicated laboratory for lead acid and alternative chemistry, which will drive innovation in sustainable energy storage.
This expansion strengthens Luminous Power Technologies’ position as a leader in the power storage industry while supporting local employment and economic growth. The Haridwar plant also serves as a hub for talent development and research, focusing on advancing energy solutions.

The Haridwar plant has received certifications for Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), and Energy Management Systems from the British Standards Institution. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has also recognized Luminous for its exemplary environmental practices.
