BHEL Wins Contract for 1×800 MW Thermal Power Plant in Telangana

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a contract from Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. (SCCL) to build a 1×800 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Mancherial district, Telangana. The project will be completed on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis, meaning BHEL will manage the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and civil work for the plant.

This new unit will be located next to the existing 2×600 MW units in the area, which were also supplied and commissioned by BHEL in 2016. The contract also includes the supply of advanced emission control equipment to improve the plant’s efficiency.

BHEL has played a significant role in Telangana’s energy sector, having contributed to over 75% of the coal-based power generation units in the state. On a national scale, BHEL has installed more than 170,000 MW of utility power capacity, helping to strengthen India’s energy security and move towards self-reliance in power generation.
