HFCL Targets ₹10,000 Crore Revenue with Global Expansion and Defence Growth

by sthv

HFCL, a prominent Indian telecom equipment manufacturer, aims to reach a ₹10,000 crore revenue target, driven by its international expansion and growing defence business, according to Managing Director Mahendra Nahata. During the company’s latest investor call, Nahata announced that HFCL’s order book had reached ₹10,000 crore by December 31, 2024. The company is focused on increasing its presence in global markets by expanding its network of employees, distributors, and dealers.

A large part of HFCL’s future revenue growth is expected to come from exports, particularly from its optical fibre and telecom solutions sectors. To enhance its European presence, HFCL has received approval from its board to build an optical fibre cable manufacturing plant in Poland. Nahata also mentioned that HFCL is not affected by the European Commission’s anti-dumping duties, which were imposed on other Indian optical fibre cable manufacturers in December 2024.

In the December 2024 quarter, HFCL generated ₹1,012 crore in revenue and expects an additional ₹350-400 crore in the current quarter. However, the company may fall short of its ₹2,000 crore annual revenue target due to delays in equipment supply and customer readiness.

During the same quarter, HFCL secured significant contracts, including a ₹2,501.30 crore work order for BharatNet Phase III in Punjab and ₹2,167.65 crore in orders from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. for optical fibre cables and telecom equipment in Uttar Pradesh’s East and West Telecom Circles. The company also opened a defence manufacturing unit in Hosur, marking a major step in its defence sector growth.

Nahata expressed confidence that HFCL will secure substantial defence orders, with revenue expected from this sector starting next financial year. However, he noted that delays in defence approvals are affecting the speed of order execution. The company has already received a letter of intent for ₹800 crore worth of defence orders, but approval delays have pushed back the timeline. HFCL aims to finalize these orders by April or May 2025, strengthening its position in the defence manufacturing market.
