Safran Electronics & Defense and International Golden Group (IGG) have officially opened the Vision for Optronics & Navigation facility in Tawazun Industrial Park, Abu Dhabi. This marks a significant step in their ongoing collaboration and establishes a new center for military technology in the UAE.
The facility will focus on the research, development, and production of key military equipment, including optronics and inertial navigation systems for air, land, and maritime operations. It will provide fast, local support to enhance the operational readiness of the UAE Armed Forces.
Franck Saudo, CEO of Safran Electronics & Defense, emphasized the importance of this partnership, saying, “The opening of this site is a major milestone in our strategic alliance with IGG. It represents our commitment to delivering advanced technological solutions and local support, boosting operational strength for our regional partners.”
Covering 800 square meters (8,600 sq. ft.), the facility is equipped with modern cleanrooms and advanced industrial systems. It will also create skilled job opportunities, supporting local economic growth and strengthening the UAE’s defense industry. The center currently provides maintenance for the UAE Army’s Leclerc tanks and armored vehicles.
This initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030, which aims to promote technology transfer and local industrial development. Through this partnership, Safran and IGG are focused on developing and adapting defense systems to meet the specific needs of the region.
The new facility is expected to play a crucial role in building local expertise and enhancing the UAE’s defense capabilities. It will also help strengthen partnerships within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
