Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the defense arm of Bharat Forge, unveiled its latest innovation, the MArG 45, a cutting-edge 155mm/45 caliber mobile gun system, at the International Defense Exhibition (IDEX) 2025. The launch event was graced by H.E. Shri Sunjay Sudhir, India’s Ambassador to the UAE, highlighting India’s growing role in global defense technology.

The MArG 45 is a next-generation artillery system designed for modern warfare. Mounted on a robust 4×4 all-terrain vehicle, it combines firepower, mobility, and rapid deployment capabilities. This makes it a versatile solution for dynamic battlefield scenarios.

Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge, emphasized the significance of the launch. “The MArG 45 represents a major milestone in defense technology. It showcases our ability to design and manufacture advanced artillery systems entirely in India. This system reflects our dedication to innovation and excellence in defense manufacturing,” he said.

Key Features of the MArG 45

The MArG 45 is engineered for quick shoot-and-scoot operations, ensuring superior maneuverability on the battlefield. It supports NATO-standard ammunition and has a firing range exceeding 36 kilometers. The system is built on a custom-designed chassis, developed in-house, to maximize agility and performance.

Weighing 23.5 tons, the MArG 45 carries 18 rounds of ammunition, enabling sustained operations. It can be deployed in just 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night. The gun system offers an elevation range of -2° to +72° and a traverse of 25° to both sides, allowing for precise targeting.

In terms of firepower, the MArG 45 delivers an intense firing rate of 10 rounds in 3 minutes and a sustained rate of 42 rounds per hour. This ensures high battlefield effectiveness, making it a reliable asset for continuous engagement.
