JSW MG Motor Expands Halol Plant to Meet Rising Demand for Windsor, Prepares for New Electric Launches

by sthv

JSW MG Motor India has announced an expansion at its Halol manufacturing plant to boost production for its all-electric crossover, the Windsor, and to prepare for new vehicle launches under its premium MG Select channel. With over 15,000 units of the Windsor produced, the company is scaling up operations to meet increasing demand.

However, the ongoing changes at the plant will temporarily slow production in February, which may affect wholesale numbers. Currently, the Halol facility has an annual production capacity of more than 100,000 vehicles. By 2027, the plant is expected to increase its capacity to 300,000 units as part of the company’s long-term growth plans.

In addition to increasing capacity for the Windsor, JSW MG Motor plans to launch two premium electric models in the first half of 2025. These vehicles will be part of its “accessible luxury” MG Select lineup. The new models include the MG Cyberster, an electric roadster designed for high performance and sleek looks, and the MG M9, an electric limousine that offers luxury and advanced technology. Both vehicles were revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January.

Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India, said, “We are expanding our Halol facility to meet the growing demand for Windsor and to prepare for the launch of new products under MG Select later this year. As a result, we expect a temporary slowdown in production in February.”

Balendran attributed Windsor’s success to its competitive pricing, features, and customer-friendly initiatives like Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), a buyback program, and a lifetime warranty. “As we grow our product range, we are committed to delivering high-quality electric vehicles to our customers faster,” he added.
