ABB India has unveiled an expanded range of low voltage flameproof motors, strengthening its focus on safety, reliability, and energy efficiency in high-risk industrial environments. These motors are specifically designed for industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, and Food & Beverage, where explosive gases present significant dangers. Produced at ABB’s advanced Bengaluru facility, the motors meet stringent PESO (Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization) standards, ensuring top-tier safety compliance.
The new motors are available in a power range of 37kW to 500kW, with frame sizes ranging from 280 to 355. They are certified for use in gas groups IIA, IIB, and IIC, making them suitable for a variety of hazardous conditions. The motors feature advanced flameproof enclosures that undergo rigorous pressure testing to prevent the spread of flames in the event of an internal explosion, significantly improving workplace safety. Built to endure extreme conditions, these Made-in-India motors can operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C, making them ideal for challenging industrial applications.
Energy efficiency is a key focus of ABB’s design, with the motors available in IE2, IE3, and IE4 efficiency classes. They are engineered to deliver optimal performance while reducing energy consumption, especially during partial load operations. Industries can achieve substantial cost savings by using these motors alongside variable frequency drives (VFDs), which further enhance energy efficiency in variable torque applications. Additionally, precision manufacturing ensures low noise levels, resulting in quieter operation and reduced maintenance requirements.
