Teledyne e2v Unveils High-Speed Sensor with Improved Near-Infrared Sensitivity

Teledyne e2v, a division of Teledyne Technologies [NYSE: TDY], has launched the Lince5M™ NIR, a state-of-the-art CMOS image sensor designed to deliver exceptional performance in both visible and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths. This advanced sensor, built on Teledyne e2v’s proprietary imaging technology, is set to serve a variety of commercial, industrial, and medical applications.

The Lince5M NIR is a monochrome sensor with a resolution of 5.2 megapixels (2,560 x 2,048). It builds on the success of the existing Lince5M model, offering enhanced speed and sensitivity, particularly in the NIR spectrum. The sensor achieves a Quantum Efficiency of 35% at 850 nm, ensuring high-quality imaging in low-light conditions. It supports a frame rate of 250 frames per second (fps) at full resolution with a 12-bit ADC, facilitated by 24 LVDS output channels.

This sensor is tailored for challenging environments that demand high-speed, high-resolution imaging in low-light scenarios. Applications include motion capture, sports analytics, industrial metrology, retinal imaging, and intelligent traffic monitoring. Leveraging Teledyne e2v’s 5 µm global shutter pixel technology, the Lince5M NIR delivers a dynamic range of 55 dB in standard mode and over 100 dB in High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode, making it ideal for capturing high-contrast scenes.

The sensor is housed in a robust 28 x 28 mm 181 PGA (Pin-Grid Array) ceramic package, featuring a 1-inch optical format. This design ensures compatibility with a wide range of C-mount lenses, simplifying camera integration and reducing costs. The Lince5M NIR operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 125°C, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
