INOX India Limited has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian manufacturer of cryogenic equipment to secure the IATF 16949 certification for producing cryogenic fuel tanks. The certification, announced on February 24, 2025, was awarded by Bureau Veritas Certification. It covers the design and manufacturing processes of vacuum-insulated cryogenic fuel tanks at INOX India’s facility in Kalol, Gujarat.
The IATF 16949 certification is a globally recognized standard required by automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). This achievement positions INOX India to expand its presence in both domestic and international markets for heavy-duty vehicle fuel tanks. The certification, based on ISO 9001 standards, is tailored to meet the specific requirements of the automotive industry.
Deepak Acharya, CEO of INOX India, emphasized that the certification underscores the company’s capability to address the growing demand for alternative fuel solutions, particularly for vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The certification process involved a rigorous audit that scrutinized every stage of the design and manufacturing processes.
INOX India, globally recognized as INOXCVA, is a leading name in cryogenic technology. This certification strengthens its reputation as a reliable supplier to automotive OEMs at a time when the industry is transitioning toward cleaner fuel options.
As the automotive sector increasingly adopts alternative fuels, LNG has emerged as a viable option, especially for heavy-duty vehicles. The IATF certification ensures that INOX India adheres to the highest quality standards across its global supply chain, delivering consistent and dependable products.
This achievement comes amid rising pressure on the automotive industry to embrace cleaner fuel alternatives. LNG is seen as a transitional solution for reducing emissions in heavy vehicles compared to traditional diesel. INOX India Limited, a major player in the industrial sector, specializes in manufacturing and supplying cryogenic and gas processing equipment. The company has a strong foothold in the LNG infrastructure space, offering solutions for storage, regasification, and distribution of LNG.
Renowned for its advanced technology and commitment to sustainability, INOX India plays a crucial role in developing energy infrastructure both in India and globally. The company designs and manufactures a wide range of cryogenic tanks, pressure vessels, and related systems, which are essential for industries such as power generation, chemicals, and logistics. Additionally, INOX India is expanding its presence in the mini-LNG terminal sector, having secured significant projects worldwide. This reinforces its position as a key contributor to the growing demand for LNG solutions.
