Lauritz Knudsen, a subsidiary of the Schneider Electric Group, is making bold moves into the renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) charging sectors. The company is focusing on innovative technologies like hydrogen analyzers, wind energy systems, and EV charging infrastructure as part of its push to grow in the green energy market.
This expansion follows Schneider Electric’s acquisition of L&T Switchgear in 2020, which was rebranded as Lauritz Knudsen. Since then, the company has prioritized sustainable energy solutions. Naresh Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of Lauritz Knudsen, said, “We aim to lead in clean and renewable energy. Our innovation and R&D efforts are focused on shaping the future of energy, with a dedicated business unit driving this mission.”
To meet rising demand, Lauritz Knudsen is investing ₹850 crore in new manufacturing plants, research labs, and automation lines. The company is also exploring renewable energy solutions such as ethanol, solar, wind, green hydrogen, and energy storage systems like Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and pumped storage systems (PSP).
This investment is part of Schneider Electric’s global plan to invest €2 billion between 2024 and 2027. Lauritz Knudsen operates manufacturing and R&D facilities in Vadodara, Ahmednagar, Coimbatore, and Navi Mumbai, employing over 500 people.
The company is also developing high-capacity, high-voltage, and eco-friendly products to align with future technological advancements. It is researching ways to measure productivity alongside energy consumption, particularly in industries like agriculture and ethanol production, to optimize energy use.
Kumar highlighted the company’s growing role in EV charging infrastructure, stating, “We are collaborating with EV charger manufacturers to provide essential components and solutions.” Lauritz Knudsen will showcase its latest innovations at Elecrama, reinforcing its commitment to India’s EV ecosystem.
As India aims to achieve 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, Lauritz Knudsen is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s energy transition. The company is actively contributing to India’s green energy infrastructure, leveraging its expertise and resources.
