TP Solar Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has secured a major contract worth ₹632 crore from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The deal involves supplying 292.5 MWp of domestically manufactured solar modules, marking a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy push.
The contract, awarded under the CPSU Scheme Tranche-III, is part of SECI’s larger 400 MWp tender. TP Solar emerged as the top bidder, securing the largest share of 292.5 MWp through a competitive e-Reverse Auction process. The modules will be delivered to a project site in Ramagiri, Andhra Pradesh, with completion expected between October 2025 and January 2026.
This project aligns with India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative, which emphasizes the use of locally produced solar equipment. By leveraging its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility—India’s largest single-location solar plant—TP Solar is contributing to the country’s clean energy goals and reducing reliance on imported solar technology.
Strengthening India’s Solar Sector
Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director of Power Systems at SECI, highlighted the importance of the contract. “The CPSU Scheme is a critical step toward boosting domestic solar manufacturing and enhancing India’s energy security,” he said. “By partnering with TP Solar, we are advancing self-reliance in the solar industry while ensuring high-quality, locally produced modules for large-scale renewable projects. Tata Power’s expertise and commitment to excellence align with our vision of accelerating India’s clean energy transition.”
The project is expected to create economic opportunities, support job creation, and promote the long-term sustainability of India’s solar sector. It also reinforces TP Solar’s role as a key player in the renewable energy space, leveraging advanced technology and sustainable practices to drive India’s energy transformation.
