At the Mobility Move conference in Berlin, taking place from April 1-3, ZF is set to showcase its latest innovations aimed at advancing the decarbonization of public transportation. The company will also engage with attendees through its lecture program at booth 66. A key highlight of the event will be the introduction of ZF’s new CeTrax 2 electric central drive, making its German debut.
The CeTrax 2 marks a significant upgrade over its predecessor. It now features advanced components like an electric motor, a SiC (Silicon Carbide) inverter, and a 3-speed gearbox. These enhancements lead to better performance and lower energy consumption, improving the overall efficiency of the system.
With a continuous output of 210 kW and a peak torque of 8,700 Nm, the CeTrax 2 is designed for buses weighing up to 19 tons. Despite the power boost, the drive maintains a compact size, similar to the previous model, and remains compatible with ZF axles. ZF has also focused on improving the software, ensuring it incorporates high-level security features, particularly in cybersecurity.
In addition to showcasing the CeTrax 2, ZF is offering engineering and consulting services to assist manufacturers in transitioning to automated driving systems. Their tailored solutions are designed to accelerate the adoption of safe, highly automated vehicles. This was demonstrated in the RABus project, conducted in Mannheim and Friedrichshafen with funding from the state of Baden-Württemberg. In this project, ZF Mobility Solutions helped select and assess routes, define hardware and software requirements, and provided expertise in automated driving functions, as well as the approval processes for Level 4 vehicle platforms.
