Hindustan Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam government to invest INR 620 crore in solar energy and battery storage projects. The deal was finalized during the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit held in Guwahati.
As part of its growth strategy, Hindustan Power plans to build a 5 GW energy portfolio over the next three years. The planned projects in Assam include a 100 MW solar power plant and a 100 MW battery storage system. The company has allocated INR 500 crore for the solar plant and INR 120 crore for the storage facility. These projects will be developed in partnership with the state government.
Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said, “We were pioneers in establishing a large solar power plant in Assam back in 2016, and we remain committed to supporting the state’s shift towards renewable energy. Assam’s growing potential offers numerous opportunities, and we are eager to contribute to the state’s renewable energy goals.”
