BGR Tech Ltd., a part of the Prenora Investment Group in India, has entered into a strategic partnership with Stargate Hydrogen, a leading Estonian company specializing in Alkaline Electrolyzer technology. The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Priyadershini Raghupathy, Founder & Chairperson of BGR Tech, and Marko Virkebau, CEO & Board Member of Stargate Hydrogen.
The aim of the collaboration is to introduce Stargate’s high-pressure Alkaline Water Electrolyzer (AWE) technology to India. Stargate’s flagship product, the Stellar Series AWE, operates at pressures up to 32 bar with a single stack capacity of 100 Nm³/h (500 kW). This technology is designed to reduce both maintenance and operating costs, offering a more efficient solution for producing green hydrogen.
BGR Tech will integrate the Stellar Series electrolyzer into its pilot plant in Chennai. This plant will feature a state-of-the-art Ultra-Pure Water Treatment Unit, a Gas Separation Unit (GSU), and a Hydrogen Purification System (HPS). The goal of this integration is to improve the efficiency and reliability of hydrogen production systems tailored for the Indian market. The pilot plant is expected to begin producing green hydrogen by May 2025 and will serve as a research and development tool to optimize system performance.
The Stellar Series electrolyzer was officially launched by Her Excellency Marje Luup, Ambassador of Estonia to India, at the India Energy Week 2025 in New Delhi. This event highlighted the commitment of both companies to support India’s energy needs with sustainable solutions.
This collaboration aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to promote clean energy technologies and reduce carbon emissions. By combining their expertise, BGR Tech and Stargate Hydrogen are working to advance green hydrogen infrastructure in India. They are also exploring the possibility of local manufacturing to support India’s “Make in India” initiative.
