Eaton Corporation has officially started construction on a ₹200 crore facility in Sholinganallur, Chennai. The groundbreaking comes six months after the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government. The new facility will focus on manufacturing, research, and development of advanced power management equipment.
Spanning 1 lakh square feet, the plant is expected to create 500 new jobs, according to state government officials. The MoU was signed in September 2024 during Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s visit to the United States, accompanied by Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa. The goal of the visit was to promote investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu.
This investment aligns with the state’s ambition to attract high-value projects and generate significant employment, particularly for women. Eaton’s new facility, scheduled for completion by 2026, will support the expansion of the company’s Crouse-Hinds and B-Line divisions.
Eaton emphasized that it has been at the forefront of developing innovative and sustainable power management solutions, especially in challenging and hazardous environments. The facility will feature advanced manufacturing areas, research and development labs, an experience center, and corporate offices, further strengthening India’s role in Eaton’s global operations.
The Tamil Nadu government highlighted the state’s investor-friendly policies, skilled workforce, and its goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030. The virtual foundation stone ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, Industries Secretary V. Arun Roy, and Eaton Corporation’s global leadership team.
